Grade A is earned because of the lack of blemishes in the wicker or rattan, hand picking only color consistent pieces of wicker and rattan for these raw pieces. A Non Toxic Sealer Coat is applied at the factory so the paint or stain does not soak through to the core of the wicker and rattan.
A clear coat which will not be noticed by the UN-trained eye can be applied to the furniture piece to offer additional protection for the raw materials if your intentions are not to paint, stain or varnish the piece later.
